Far to often this is what a rescue will find. This little girl was going to be set free outside. A woman took her in but the tumors were more than she could handle. So she found her way to me. She gained a name here "Athena" One strong enough to help her through this horrible tumor ordeal. The former owners did not want to care for her so she is now in my care. She will see a vet on Saturday morning to see about having these tumors removed. The problem is when rescues take in your unwanted animals we bear the cost to help them survive. So remember that the next time you feel the need to get a new pet, support a rescue and safe a life.
In December of 2012 we took in 3 mommas and the daddy. Shortly after all the mommas had babies we noticed something was wrong with the little ones. They seem to be born with a curved spine. For unknown reasons. They are very healthy and happy otherwise. These babies have no idea they are different. They still run on the wheel, climb the bars, and popcorn in their own special way. We have had to purchase new cages for them so they could live together since living with normal rats was just to much for them. 3 boys and 3 girls remain living with me. All of them are amazing little souls. Sadly we have no idea how long their life with be but we plan on loving them as long as we can. It has been a lot of work to adjust and care for them daily. They require special attention since the boys have some minor issues with their male parts. You can see their videos and antics on our You Tube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/TheHopefloats75?feature=mhee
